"The Convent" is from the 2012 film version of Les Misérables. It is sung after "Suddenly," where Valjean and Cosette find shelter at the convent with help from Fauchelevant, after being chased by Javert through the streets of Paris. In the background, the hymn called "Te lucis ante terminum" may be hear, which are sung to a similar tune to that of "Valjean Forgiven/The Bishop"
Lyrics[]
The nuns singing in the back:
Te lucis ante terminum
Rerum Creator poscimus,
Ut pro tua clementia,
Sis praesul et custodia.
Procul recedant somnia,
Et noctium phantasmata;
Hostemque nostrum comprime,
Ne polluantur corpora.
Valjean: We'll give thanks for what is granted (Ut pro tua clementia)
What the sisters may ordain (Sis praesul te custodia)
Here we pray for new beginnings
Here our lives can start again
(Te lucis ante terminum).
