Sacha Baron Cohen is an English stand-up comedian, humorist and writer of Welsh and Israeli descent. He is most famous for playing the notable hidden-camera characters Borat, Ali G and Bruno. He played the role of Thénardier in Les Misérables (2012 Film).
Career
Although Baron Cohen did some modeling and minor gigs before becoming widely known for his personas, the use of his character Ali G on Channel 4 helped him become GQ's comedian of the year in 1999, although technically he had gone live with his character Bruno first. He portrayed his character Borat on the Ali G Show along with Ali G and Bruno, but Borat didn't become world-famous until 2006, when the movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan came out. His movie Bruno, starring Bruno, came out in 2009. In 2012, he released his newest film, The Dictator which stars him as Admiral General Aladeen, a dictator based on Saddam Hussein.
