Roger Allam (born in London, England) is an English stage actor who originated the role of Javert in the Barbican Production of Les Misérables: The Musical, making him the first English speaking actor to portray the role.

Personal life[]

Allam is married to actress Rebecca Saire and is predominantly known for his straight theatre roles, unlike his successors to the role of Javert, though he did appear with Philip Quast in a production of La Cage Aux Folles in London. He won an Olivier Award for his performance as Falstaff in Henry IV Parts 1&2 and is well known for his role in the radio series Cabin Pressure with Benedict Cumberbatch. He originally planned to become an opera singer before joining the RSC, and it is largely down to his contributions that the song Stars remained in the show.

At the 25th Anniversary Concert, Allam sang One Day More at the evening performance along with his former cast members.
