I liked him in the musical and movie: he is an active member of Les Amis de l'ABC, he really loves Cosette and we can feel his grief after his friends' death (well, maybe he's still blind and doesn't see Eponine feelings, but they're friends, her death touches him). So I supposed I'll like him in the book too. But I didn't.

I liked him at first few chapters, but the more I read, the less I liked Marius. He didn't care about revolution much, nor about his friends. Courfeyrac was his best friend - but Marius wasn't really touched after his death. He didn't even tell him that he's in love with Cosette. He lived in Courfeyrac's house, he borrowed his money - and nothing more. And actually what he's done for his, let's say, best friend?

I didn't like his relations with Eponine. Even when she was dying in his arms, he doesn't care about her, he kissed her actually automatically, but just after that Marius simply left her body and read the letter from Cosette.

And his relationship with Cosette... Well, definitely they suit each other well. Marius loved Cosette (he even stalked her in one moment) and she felt the same. I think they were probably happy together. But sometimes I'm wondering what would he do, if he knew that she's illegitimate daughter of the prostitute, especially when I think about his reaction when he heard that Jean Valjean was a slaver...
